Synthetic thinking
Synthetic thinking
Synthetic thinking is a simple thinking technique for gaining systemic (situation-wide) insights into complex situations and problems. It puts the benefits of the systems thinking revolution within the reach of everyone. Synthesis is more than putting things back together again after you’ve taken them apart: It understands how things work together. Synthetical thinking enables us to understand how they work together. Synthetical thinking is deliberately finding repeating patterns (or common themes) across a system or situation. The basic idea in systemic thinking is to list as many different elements as you can think of, then look for similarities between them. (Bartlett, G 2001)
All the problems that SAPS are faced with are interlinked. The general public and staff perception of SAPS is low therefore the staffs’ morels will be low. Low morale will lead to slower response times to emergency calls, which will lead to ad perception of the SAPS. Ad internal communication will lead to slower response times, which will lead to a bad perception of the SAPS. Lack of official signage means there is a lack of communication that will cause a bad perception of the SAPS once again. Lack of signage will also lead to low morale as he staff won’t feel a part of a team. Many of the main or key issues that the SAPS are faced with are interlinked in some way or another.
If the solutions that are mentioned above are implemented correctly there will be new and more effective signage and this will increase client service that will boost public perception of SAPS. The new app will increase internal and external communications that will better the response rate, this will better the perception of the SAPS and boost morale. High morale will better the response rate ad will create a better external perception of the SAPS. By using better signage it will make the staff feel as part of a team and that will boost morale and improve their perception of the SAPS. New signage will let the employees feel more official and y using the app communications both internally and externally will improve and this will lead to a boost morale and enhance internal perception of the SAPS.
